Cloudy & Full Moon …

Tuesday, December 13th, 2016

It’s a chilly night here, and clouding up again for some more rain.

I can’t believe that Christmas is less that 2 weeks away. I better start some baking and menu planning and getting my house ready. The tree is up and I have a few things here and there. This will be my first Christmas without Mom. I might have to raise a toast of her special Glenlivet Scotch in her honor.

I’m not sure what to bake. I think I’ll open up Mom’s recipe box for some inspiration.

That Was A Nice Weekend

… a very nice weekend indeed. I got to spend time with old friends and new. A little foodie retail therapy. A little cycling. Lunch and some chocolate cake at Konditorei Austrian Pastry Cafe. A stroll through the UC Davis Arboretum with some nice company.

I have a busy day ahead of me tomorrow at work, so I really should be finishing up my chores and heading to bed soon.

This morning started out with a trip to the Meyer Factory Outlet Sale with a girlfriend – a foodie equipment adventure. I only bought a couple of things (so, so proud of myself!) because right now I don’t really have room for more stuff. Once I get my garage squared away and suitable for storing pots, pans, baking sheets, and so on … then I can consider buying a big set of sparkly new pots and pans … and perhaps a few other things.

My goal for the trip was to find a great deal on a fully automatic espresso maker, but it turns out that they stopped carrying any electronics at the outlets some years ago. Sigh …

Later in the day I headed out for a short ride (30 or so miles). It was glorious. Not too hot. Not too cold. It was just right.

Soon I’ll be leading training rides for the 2017 Napa Valley Tour de Cure. Now is a great time to check this ride out! And, of course, make a donation to my ride. Remember that your donation is tax deductible.
