November? Feels like May!

Sunday, November 13th, 2016

Today’s ride was the usual out to Winters. It was glorious out! It is hard to believe that this is November – it feels more like May.

I love my Colnago!

I love my Colnago!

I love my sunscreen!

… and my sunscreen …

I love this view!

… and how could you not love this view?

I hope you’re out and about enjoying some of this lovely weather. I’m looking forward to a group ride tomorrow. I hope I can keep up … if not, I’m familiar with the roads, so … at least I won’t be lost!

Autumn Days

Saturday, November 12th, 2016

It is an absolutely stunning weekend here!

Absolutely stunning day for a ride. Don't you agree?

Oooh, look at those Autumn colors. Reminds me of home.

That was yesterday. Now time to get out there and ride today!

Weekends Are For Cycling!

Monday, November 7th, 2016

This was a wonderful weekend for cycling. Saturday’s weather was perfect – not too warm, not too cold, not too windy. I rode with a friend from Vacaville out towards Lake Berryessa and up Cardiac Hill.

Saturday's ride ... Cardiac Hill-bound. It's been too long.

Saturday’s ride … Cardiac Hill-bound. It’s been too long.

We saw some beautiful countryside and I enjoyed having company on the ride. I got just over 70 miles total for the day, with a little bit of much needed climbing.

I headed out for a shorter, solo ride this morning.

A lovely *pop* of color!

The overcast sky made for nice lighting to catch this *pop* of color.

Today’s ride was a bit more mellow – just about 30 miles of gentle rollers on Pleasants Valley Road. It was a lovely ride except for a (thankfully) brief encounter with an inexcusably rude group of guys in a large SUV. That was a bit alarming … I’ve been cycling solo out here for years and this was one of the very few times I have experienced something like this.

We've had a little rain recently and it's nice to see some green for a change.

All  in all, it was a beautiful Autumn day for a ride. I’m so thankful to have this bike …

La-la-la-lava in Motion

Tuesday, September 13th, 2016

Kilauea Volcano Hawaii USA

We could not get to the other side to see the lava flowing into the ocean, but this was pretty amazing to see. We got about 3 or 4 feet away before it was too hot.

Happy Tuesday! Have a great one!

A Little Beauty to Start Your Day

Wednesday, August 10th, 2016

These were taken a few weeks ago in my Mom’s neighborhood. I have been working like mad packing and cleaning up her house getting it ready for sale. It’s super important to take breaks now and then.

La-la-la-lavender loveliness.

Escaping The Heat

Wednesday, August 10th, 2016

This is from a few weekends ago when we were having quite a heatwave in the Davis-area.

A recent visit - to escape a Davis-Sacramento area heatwave.

A day trip to the Coast. This was at Goat Rock Beach in Bodega Bay.

The air was fresh, clean, and cool. Aaaaaah …

I’ve been getting a bit of cycling in, but not as much as I’d like to. The air has been pretty smoky with the Cold Fire in Winters, and I’ve just plain been too busy with other stuff. One of these days I’ll be able to get back to cycling a lot and blogging.

But for now, off to work I go…

Time Again for Post Work Rides

Tuesday, April 19th, 2016

I had to leave work a little early yesterday to meet PG&E at my house to investigate a gas leak. I just had a new dryer installed on Friday and … the installers didn’t do it right. I was very grateful that PG&E came out right away. I was even more grateful that he was able to resolve the issue in a time frame that allowed me to also grab a quick post-work ride.

All in all, I logged about 28 much needed miles total yesterday. A quick ride in the morning and about 1.5 hours after work. Not a fast ride, but a ride.

Here are a few pics from last night.

I'm glowing with delight! Have sunscreen, will ride.

Notice my Tour de Cure jersey? This from my very first Tour de Cure – when I rode with Team Golds from Vacaville.

I can hardly believe that the Napa Valley Tour de Cure is now less than 2 weeks away. I am not feeling ready at all this year. If you would like to support my ride, please make a donation here. This is an especially important Tour this year – it’s the 25th anniversary!

Up and over a few rollers.

Must get ready! Spinning up and over a few rollers.

Moonrise.

No matter where the road takes us, as long as we're together, I'll be smiling.

Rain, Rain, & More Rain!

Saturday, March 12th, 2016

Well, we did ask for it. We did pray for it. And now it’s here.

El niño está aquí!

I am so looking forward to some beautiful, clean, fresh air. I’ve been enjoying seeing the greening of the hills – something we haven’t seen so much of in a few years.

California has been in a serious drought for years now. We’re having a delightfully wet March, but that’s still not enough rain to “end” the drought – check out this article and map to see how we’re doing.

So please remember, my fellow Californians, please continue to conserve water.

… and remember … cycling in the rain can be fun if you have the appropriate gear and pay extra attention to safe cycling. Alternatively, you could always put your bike on an indoor trainer.

Moonset Sunrise Ride

Wednesday, February 24th, 2016

Last night’s full moon made for an amazing moonset this morning.

Looking from North Davis towards Winters area.

The cool, fresh, moist air made for a glorious sunrise …

This morning’s ride was just over 17 miles … aaah. Not much else to say.

Here’s wishing you a wonderful ride today.
